i didn't respond because i thought the first time i'd even heard the word "Muslim" growing up in rural texas was on 9/11 but i just remembered googling it at the library after listening to the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. and by "googling" i of course mean visiting askjeeves.net
I am half Palestinian (all Muslim) and half Mexican (all Catholic) and hearing that everyone thinks Muslims were so strict and serious is kind of hilarious to me! Like of course some people are serious but religious piety and humor aren’t antithetical to each other!! Maybe it’s a white, American thing? but the brown and Black pious people I know, we are all hilarious! Jokes, pranks, insults mixed with blessings! That was eye opening for me.
Love it. Somewhat concerned that most American millennials seemed to have learned about Islam on 9/11. We should actually have closed our schools long ago, it turns out; they weren't doing much.

Every time I remember that it was this president who said OPEN THE SCHOOLS, I die inside 😭
